Summary of Hanoi trip (15-19 December 2012)

Initially this entry would be a very lengthy kind of post.

However because the author is extremely lazy to do it (most likely not in the mood to write super long post but at the same time felt obliged to post something since this was first company trip and the very first time the author flew out of MALAYSIA. YEAH~~~ BABY!!!!)

Trust me, this is going to be super short.
Here it goes~

Hanoi is one of the great places for you to free yourselves from hustle and bustle of the city. However if you can't live without Mid Valley, The Golden Triangle, KL Tower, and LRT..don't ever thought of staying there permanently. You will die of boredom

Follow a tour agency if it is your first visit. You don't want to get stranded, don't you? But feel free to grab your backpack with your map and walk around if you are familiar with the places.

Convert your money to Vietnamese Dong currency and bring some USDs for additional. Try not to use USDs for transaction or else they will 'cut your throat'. Means they will charge you slightly higher.

Remember and MUST REMEMBER! To bargain whenever you try to purchase anything.

If you are looking for bags, pouches and wallets, get them from a rural area instead of town. Same quality but different prices.

Hanoi is very famous for specially brew coffee with very thick condensed milk at the bottom. This is a MUST TRY beverage even you are not a fan of coffee.

Second food is Beef noodles. A must try! Though I only managed to taste it in a hotel.
Oh ya, all their meats taste nice (beef, pork, and mutton). Fish and chicken are not so happening though.

Most of them can converse in MANDARIN and English if you are at town.

Crossing roads in Hanoi is very different in Malaysia or any country which practicing systematic traffic rules. Forget about looking left and right before you cross a road. In Hanoi, you HAVE to brace yourselves and walk BRAVELY non-stop untill you reach the other end. Sounds crazy but it is true, or else you will never be able to cross a road. The drivers will not stop for you but they will avoid you on the road. Funny thing is, the accident rate is much lower than countries which practising traffic rules. Reason, drivers are not allowed to exceed 40km/hr on the road except highway. Logically, they will be able to stop on time if they almost hit you.

Remember to check on Hanoi weather before you go there. Cold weather is so much fun than hot weather. The best time is during December till first quarter of the year.

So, that is all the summary. I, myself enjoy the trip on a boat the most. Cold breezy weather with marvellous view of mountains and lake. SPLENDID! The best is bring along your boyfriend and enjoy the boat ride with Hanoi coffee............
