The Untold Story

Seems like my current obsession is mystery or thriller movie lol.
Here are two Hong Kong movies that i have just watched. Both are mystery, definitely not horror movies but they are amazing as always. Hong Kong 90's movies rock!!!
The Untold Story ~ Sudden Vanish

Plot:

The story focuses on a pair of Hong Kong police officers named Sam and Judy (Lai and Yuan) who throw in the towel and resign from the force so that they can go off and start their own private detective agency. Why would they want to branch out on their own? So that they can focus in on the one area where they excel that the normal police force won't go – the paranormal. Sam's wanted to start looking into the weird and mysterious world and his superiors have always reeled him back in when he's tried to travel down that mystical path. While it might sound difficult to get a business like this up and running, thankfully they have a mysterious and very wealthy benefactor (Tao) who stands in the shadows, never takes off his sunglasses, and who chain smokes. Our cops name their operation Sky Eye Lab, and they open the doors for business.

So with Sky Eye Lab ready to roll, it doesn't take long before the strange cases start coming in – sort of. Someone has left a case with some details inside and a whole pile of cash to cover their expenses and then some. Armed with only the simplest of details, our intrepid investigators have to tackle a doozy of a mystery, as it appears that some girls have been disappearing in the area. While at first this might sound like a job for the regular police department to handle, when they start scratching below the surface to see what they can find it turns out that this is all tied into a cult of devil worshippers who have ties to the disappearances and a taste for ritualistic suicide attempts. To complicate matters even more, there are ties to possible aliens and some sort of doomsday plot!

Feedback:

It is a nice movie especially for those who enjoy supernatural phenomenon. like me lol. One thing i love about this movie is, it has an ending. Nowadays, it is typical for horror or mystery movies to end in a way where they let the audiences wondering what's the ending. As if there is no ending at all. Not that they will produce a sequel to end the movie, they left the movies without ending.

Other than that, it ends in a way where there is logical explanation or reason behind a phenomenon. in other words, it is explainable.

Overall, the casts are not bad especially this time Wayne Lai is the main actor along with Fanny Yuen.

The Untold Story ~ The Lost World


Plot:

The Orbit Investigator Bureau returns for their second case in The Untold Story - The Lost World! The former police officers turned supernatural investigators Sam (Wayne Lai) and Judy (Fennie Yuen) take on a new case involving health food store owner Tammy (Joyce Tang Lai Ming), whose sleepwalking exploits have sometimes resulted in her waking up covered in blood! Meanwhile, the mystery benefactor (Michael Tao) brings a new case to the duo's attention, involving a mysterious "beast" that is terrorizing farm animals in the New Territories. Slowly, the case unravels, and Sam discovers the key may be a suspicious product in Tammy's health food store which contains the DNA of the American Cheetah. Even worse, Judy is a customer there! Can Sam unlock the secret of the health food poisoning and save his partner in the process? More supernatural phenomena get explored in the mysterious and suspenseful thriller The Untold Story - The Lost World! Preceded by the The Untold Story - Sudden Vanished, which detailed the origin of Sam and Judy's Orbit Investigator Bureau.

Feedback:
The sequel is appealing and there are sense of humor than the first where it involves more well-known casts and not to mention the storyline is good. I'm surprised actually because normally the first movie is better than the second. However, this movie proved me wrong. Again, it ends in a way where there is logical explanation behind supernatural phenomena.

One thing i don't understand is, why it called The Lost World. It reminds me of Jurassic Park lol. Perhaps due to the fact that there are some connection with beasts, roaring and flash-eating organism.
